And I just thought my rose-hair was beautiful. I'd love to have a blue taratula...blue is my fave color...but, are they easily handled?

Versicolors are supposed to be docile, although I've heard of some defensive ones.
They're only blue as babies, they grow up to be quite the beauties with iridescent greens, pinks, and purples.
I dunno if you've heard of this site, but it's a great help:

Thanks for the link! I went and registered...I've got a Rose hair, and I've been wanting to learn a lot more about her. Apparently, the guy at the pet store has been telling me all the wrong things.....

What sort of things?
Pet stores ALWAYS have it wrong...
I recently walked into one and they had 3 rosehairs with woodships, a giant cup with a sponge in it, and NO hide. Ugh. Im gonna go back there with a packet of instructions on how to take care of em.
Poor babies.

Oh lordy, where to begin? He kept telling me to keep the humidity up, and keep misting her...to keep feeding her things...I even bought a pinkie to try and get her to eat when she hadn't eaten in 4 months. She's not on wood chips, but she is on a sort of forest floor bedding. She doesn't seem to mind it. I ended up going online to see about a few things and found out that everything I was doing...including keeping a bowl with a soaked sponge in it...was wrong!!! I'm not sure what to give her to hide in. Any suggestions??

You could take a flower pot and bury it halfway, to make it a sort of a dome. You can also take a trip to the pet store and buy one of those halflogs.
Make sure you don't have a lot of direct light on her, they don't like it.
And maybe you read that rosies usually fast for months on end. I've heard of one that hasn't eaten in two years, and is still nice and fat!

Thanks! I may have to do that. I don't like how she has no where to hide. I quit putting direct light on her after I read up on her. And yes...I did read that rosies fast. I didn't know that. I try not to keep a whole lot of water in with her, either. Maybe I'll get things going right so that she can finally molt. She hasn't eaten in awhile, and still looks good.

This is an Antilles Pinktoe tarantula, also known as Avicularia versicolor.
Theyre blue as babies and grow up to be very iridescent colors.

A tarantula right? Beautiful coloring!
They say in the animal kingdom bright colors usually mean danger, in this case it this one more venomous?

excuse me... i think that is a mistake.
that cant be versicolor.
its most possible that is metallica or avicularia. never seen versicolor in this edition...sorry i dont own avicularias but never seen versicolor like that...
